Switching from another receptionist?
If you forward your own number, moving over takes about ten minutes. Pick the service you use now and follow the steps.
First, keep paying
Keep your old service until VoiceDog is answering your calls. If you forward your own number, cancel after the test call.
Send your calls to VoiceDog
If you forward your own number
- Turn off forwarding to your old service, with the steps for your phone company. Stop forwarding has them.
- Turn it on for VoiceDog. Forward your calls has the steps for your phone company.
- Call your number from another phone to test it. Your old service stays on until it works.
If your number comes from your old service
Canceling ends that number. Keep your old service while callers still use it, and ask your old service whether it can forward the number to your VoiceDog number, or move the number to a phone company first.
Bring your contacts
Ask your old service for your contacts as a CSV file. Copy the request under its name and send it to their support.
Beside
Beside sends your contacts as CSV files (in a ZIP) when you ask its in-app support, and it can take a few business days. Beside says recordings and transcripts can’t be exported. (read October 21, 2026)

Another service
Hi,
I’m moving my business to another service. Please send me a copy of my contacts as a CSV file: name and phone number for everyone you have for my account. Please also tell me how to download my call history and recordings, if you offer that.
Thank you.
When the file arrives, open the app, go to your contacts and choose Import contacts.
VoiceDog can’t import recordings or transcripts. Download anything you want to keep before you cancel.
What your old receptionist knew
Set these up once and VoiceDog answers like it knows your business.
- Your website: import it and we draft your services and answers.
- Your greeting: what callers hear first.
- Your hours: when you are open.
- Services and prices: what you do and what it costs.
- Common questions: the answers callers ask for most.
- Who we transfer to: the people a caller can be put through to, and in what order.
